How to protect yourself:
- Frequently wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use an alcohol-based sanitized gel
- Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands
- Avoid close and direct contact with people who are sick, keeping a safe distance from the coughers of 2 meters or 6 feet or more
- Avoid handshaking, kissing and hugging
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue (or your flexed elbow) when coughing or sneezing and dispose tissue immediately after use
The virus spreads from an infected person to another through:
- The air, via droplets from coughing or sneezing;
- Close personal contact, such as shaking hands;
- Touching contaminated surfaces and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.
